Ready Biodegradability
A substance is normally described as "readily biodegradable" if the extent of biodegradation achieved within the 28 day test period exceeds 60% based on the BOD28/COD ratio. If only 5-day BOD data are available, a BOD/COD ratio exceeeding 50% is considered to be "readily biodegradable".
