Brixham Environmental Laboratory (BEL)

Located in Devon, in the South West of England, Brixham Environmental Laboratory's great strength is its internationally recognised committment to the development of innovative 'intelligent' test methods. This approach enables us to deliver top quality support to chemical and related businesses world-wide, providing assessments of the environmental fate and effects of new and existing products and of the manufacturing processes they operate.

BEL was established in 1948 as a testing facility for ICI Paints, and transferred to Zeneca Limited following the demerger of ICI in 1993. In 1999 the Laboratory became part of the AstraZeneca organisation.

There are about 90 full-time staff in the laboratory at Brixham, covering a wide range of scientific disciplines, including:
