Brixham Environmental Laboratory Hosts Open Day

The naturally impressive surroundings of Brixham Environmental Laboratory were enhanced by brilliant weather on the occasion of the Laboratory's first Open Day for Industry and Academia on 18th September.

Guests were welcomed for breakfast in a marquee overlooking an unusually placid Tor Bay, followed by presentations from a range of experts based on the topic for the day which was Persistence, Bioaccumulation and Toxicity, with particular reference to REACH registration.

The tours round the laboratory with presentations by members of staff enabled guests to view the expanded state-of-the-art laboratories, and learn about the wide range of services the Laboratory can offer.

After lunch, and more topic-related presentations, a traditional Devon cream tea was served on the top floor terrace where the weather remained benign. This was a hugely successful day, of great benefit to both regular clients and new visitors, and plans are already underway to stage this as an annual event with a new and topical theme each year.
